The Yoga Teachers' Fellowship Brings together teachers and students whose passion is yoga

a-master314-evolve Evolution is a messy process. So anybody who really wants to make the effort to strive for something new is going to have to  be willing to make mistakes, take wrong turns, even to fail, but never give up. The simple truth is  this: if not failing is more important to you than genuinely succeeding, you’re never going to  make it. If you really want to succeed, you have to have the big heart, heroic will, tenacity,  courage, and commitment to fearlessly engage with the evolutionary process until something  profound, mysterious, and extraordinary happens that cannot be undone.

seane-corn1“I didn’t actually start practicing yoga until two years, eight nightclub jobs and countless parties later. I liked yoga at first because of how it made my body feel, but within a few short years, yoga infiltrated every part of my existence. Because of the practice, I quit smoking, drinking, doing drugs and eating animal products. Because of the practice, I meditate, breathe, pray and serve. Yoga created the foundation that allows me to feel connected to spirit, the world and all her inhabitants. The concept of God no longer frightens me, for I learned that God is truth and love and exists in all moments, light and dark, and fully within each being. God is not something to be discovered, simply uncovered, and the journey of self-awakening will be unique for each soul. I believe this is exactly what Billy had wanted me to understand. We each have a “story” and karma that must be worked out. We each struggle, but we’ll eventually find our way to love, in God’s time. Don’t judge. Let God do his/her work, and have faith in the process. What Billy had told me simply, but masterfully, was that God is everywhere. We are all connected. We are all one. So remember to love.”

We should focus on everything that matters to us.  Abraham Hicks explains the importance of deliberately setting your vibrational tone.“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. BEGIN IT NOW!” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (28 August, 1749 – 22 March, 1832), German poet, dramatist, author, theologian, humanist and scientist

Note: Although this was written in response to the recent quake in Haiti, this healing information is helpful for any difficult situation, anywhere, anytime.
Do large-scale disasters seem overwhelming to you?
You can learn to face your fears, and you can utilize your awareness to help make a healing difference in the situation.
Are you willing to learn how you can make a difference- to go deeper than your fear, so that you can tap into a greater power that we all have access to?
Staying in fear is easy. Going beyond fear may take some work, but you can do it. Use the methods described here to understand how to cope, and learn how you can help make a difference in the world.
How could you make a difference in such a vast situation?
If you can hold a positive intention, you can make a difference. Everything in the world is a physical expression of an underlying grid, or network of energy. You can help this energy shift and heal.
How can your intentions possibly make a difference on the physical plane?
If you can imagine a new possibility, you can help shift the energy of a situation. At first, it may seem that you are only imagining the shift. You are shifting the underlying energy of the situation, along with the healing work of thousands of other people. Together, you are all making a difference in the energy. And this shifts the situation, gradually, by helping the situation re-align itself with the universe in the most helpful way.
How can you clear negative energy?
If you can massage the shoulders of a friend, you have the basic skill to help lift negative energy away.
If you can imagine an ice cube melting on a hot sidewalk, you have the basic imagination ability that can help shift negative energies.
A philosophical question that may have arisen in your mind. . .
Is it the karma of people in a troubled region to experience the difficulty that they are now experiencing? The answer is that yes, to some extent, it is their karma. Karma simply refers to repeated patterns. However, it is also your karma, as one who is aware of the situation, to help to the extent that you can. In other words, you can help change the pattern. And that is why you are exploring these healing methods now- because you intuitively recognize that whatever led you to recognize a particular situation, you yourself recognize that you can be part of the solution. The assistance you give now makes the planet a more safe and positive place for you and your family, and for everyone else as well. If you like, consider your assistance as the creation of good karma. Or simply as something you choose to do to help make the planet a better place for everyone.
Here is how you can use these basic skills to make a difference for the planet. . .

The new year offers a chance to bring your deepest desires to life. But first you  have to find a path around the obstacles standing in the way. Although they may  manifest as external problems-you may think a lack of time prevents you from  meditation every day, for example-it is often emotions or thought patterns that  hold you back. Yet if your internal state is unified with your desire you can  achieve anything. The mantra above is traditionally chanted to start new  endeavors with positive energy and to remove obstacles.

Thomas Ashley-Farrand is the author of Healing Mantras and Shakti Mantras.

giftofpeaceOn behalf of the Yoga Teachers’ Fellowship, I wish to express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Sam Busa, this morning, Tuesday 19 January 2010. He died peacefully at Hospice Houghton, surrounded by his loved ones. To his immediate family and long term students, condolences; we share in your loss.

We are grateful for Sam’s generosity and pioneering spirit. His strength and wisdom in the early years helped create the foundation of Yoga in South Africa. We honour and acknowledge Sam’s awareness in a healthy lifestyle, which he cosciously spread  through his teachings and guidance in his trademark Sam Busa Health Centre, from Hillbrow to the Michaelangelo Hotel. May he rest in peace.
