The Yoga Teachers' Fellowship Brings together teachers and students whose passion is yoga

dharmbeautyThe Tibetan-Government-In-Exile (requested by His Holiness the Dalai Lama) has made a special request to Tibetans (worldwide) and to Tibet Support Groups to conduct prayers for victims of the earthquake that hit Kyigudo in Tibet on the 14th April. 2,000+ lives lost, many homeless and in need of care.
Prayers have been conducted each week since the disaster and a recent communication has been received for as many people as possible to get-together on the 3rd week after the quake, which will be TUESDAY 4TH MAY, 2010. The Office of Tibet staff will come to the Lam Rim Centre to offer prayers, chant mantras and conduct a light offering. All friends are cordially invited to join them if they can; the prayers will be conducted at the time of  earthquake, which was 07:49 a.m. People are asked to arrive at 07:30. Staff of Office of Tibet will more than likely stay for 2 to 3 hours, but if you are able to join them for just 20 mins and make your light offering, this will be appreciated. If you are able to join us at that time on that day, please do, alternatively you may conduct your own prayers at home during this period.

Dear Friends
As you know, the earthquake that hit the Kyigudo region in Tibet has been devastating. The latest figures listed 1,944 dead, 216 missing and more than 12,100 injured…. their need is great and growing.
Many overseas Tibet Support Groups are asking for donations to help the surviving families and since it is difficult for some of us to make overseas donations we approached the Office of Tibet in Pretoria (the official Office for His Holiness the Dalai Lama for Africa) for some advice. It so happens that they have been instructed by the Government-In-Exile in Dharamsala to collect any contributions locally, which will in turn be directed to a newly formed Earthquake Charity Association based in Dharamsala, to receive and distribute funds appropriately.
Please forward these details to family & friends who would like to support this needy cause and below is the official response from Mr Sonam Tenzing, His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s representative for Africa, giving banking details and an outline of the executive body.
Best wishes
TSSA Committee, Durban (we will send this appeal out this week to our TSSA email list, but in the meantime this is being sent to you for your information/action - thank you !….. )
