On Saturday 5th June another successful YTF Yoga Day was held at the ISHTA school in Illovo. The day consisted of a morning workout - Iyengar style - led by the legendary Lars Kruger, one of SA’s favourite male yoga teachers (and when you see him you’ll know why!) From hop out jumps to holding well aligned asanas, by the time lunch time came around everyone had worked up a good appetite - and we certainly weren’t disappointed with the fabulous vegetarian spread thanks to Ariel’s ‘Free Food’ catering! The afternoon followed with an introduction to ‘The Journey‘ by Brandon Bays, guided by Juditte Schlebusch who shared some light on the work she has been doing with the children of the Alexandra townships. All went home feeling healthy, nourished and inspired to give back to the community. Now isn’t that what it’s all about! (By Hayley Alexander)

Many thanks to Lars for humbly and generously sharing his wisdom. Lars Kruger teaches at Yoga Warrior and Bikram Illovo, contact him at larskruger@mweb.co.za.

I would also like to extend thanks to Juditte Schlebusch, an Accredited Journey Practitioner and  Iyengar yoga practitioner, for stepping in to facilitate a Brandon Bays Journey introduction, a group  Meditation-The Journey Healing Technique and for sharing her work, Charity/Intervention Strategy: Juditte is active in the Journey Outreach programme which runs extra-mural activity in 3 Alexandra High schools. Any voluntary assistance, sponsorship or monetary contribution is appreciated. Anyone interested in participating in a reciprocal yoga presentation to Alex high school pupils or any other form of participation, please contact  Juditte on 082 442 5089, or let me know.
